Wire Hair Extension Human Hair
1. What are wire hair extension?
A: Wire hair extension (also called “invisible” or “track” extensions) is ultra-thin, wefted hairpieces with a flexible wire or silicone base. They blend seamlessly with natural hair and are ideal for adding length, volume, or highlights without bulky clips or tape.
2. How are wire hair extension different from clip-ins or tape-ins?
A:
- Wire hair extension: Lightweight, lie flat against the scalp (no bulk), secured with micro-beads or silicone-lined wefts. Best for fine/thin hair. Wire hair extension is designed for ultimate comfort and a natural look. They are ultra-lightweight and sit flat against the scalp, avoiding the bulkiness of traditional methods. Instead of clips or adhesives, they are typically secured using a transparent wire and optional micro-beads or silicone-lined wefts for added grip. This makes them ideal for individuals with fine or thin hair, as they do not stress the roots and are easy to apply and remove without professional help.
- Clip-ins: Attach with snaps; quicker to install but more visible. Clip-ins is a popular choice for temporary use and quick volume. They use small snap clips to attach to your natural hair, making installation and removal fast and DIY-friendly. However, they can be slightly more visible, especially in thin hair, and may feel heavier after extended wear. Clip-ins is great for special occasions or occasional styling changes.
- Tape-ins: Adhesive-based; semi-permanent but require professional removal. Tape-ins is a semi-permanent solution applied by sandwiching sections of your natural hair between adhesive wefts. They blend very naturally when installed correctly but require professional installation and removal to avoid damaging your hair. Tape-ins can last several weeks with proper care, making them suitable for longer-term wear, but they may not be the best option for those who frequently change styles or prefer low-maintenance solutions.
3. How do you attach wire hair extension?
A: A stylist typically:
- Take out and comb: Take out the fishing line hair curtain from the package, comb it gently with a wide-tooth comb to remove possible tangles and ensure smooth hair extension.
- Adjust the fishing line: There are 5 hooks on both sides of the curtain to adjust the tightness. You can choose a suitable position to fix it according to your head size. Generally speaking, wrap the fishing line around your head to ensure that it can be comfortably fixed on your head, neither too tight nor too loose.
- Fix the position: Divide the hair into two parts, adjust the fishing line to the width of your head circumference, and place the fishing line on the top of your head like a headband (2-3 cm away from the forehead), and then adjust the position of the two Velcro clips to ensure that the two clips are not placed in the middle of the curtain. Too close may cause it to be unable to be fixed. Make sure that the hair extension is closely combined with your own hair.
- Hide the fishing line: Cover the hair extension naturally with your own hair to make the hair extension look more natural. Then comb it gently with a comb to make the hair extension blend better with your own hair.
- Adjust the style: Use curling irons, hair straighteners and other tools to style the entire hair according to your preferences.
4. How long do wire hair extension last?
A: With proper care:
- Sew-in method: 6–8 weeks (needs tightening as hair grows).
- Bonded method: 4–6 weeks (depends on adhesive strength).
Tip: Avoid excessive heat near the wire to prevent loosening.
5. Can I style or wash wire hair extension?
A: Yes! But follow these rules:
- Washing: Choose a mild, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, and avoid using products containing alcohol or strong chemical ingredients to avoid damaging the hair and wire. When washing your hair, gently soak your hair, pour the shampoo into the palm of your hand, rub it into the foam, and then apply it to your hair. Use your fingertips to gently massage your scalp and hair, and do not rub the hair extension area hard. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to ensure that there is no shampoo residue. The use of conditioner is similar to shampoo, but avoid applying it on the scalp. Just apply it on the hair and leave it on for 3-5 minutes before rinsing.
- Styling: You can dye, perm, straighten and style at will, but pay attention to the fact that the color can be dyed from light to dark, and the heating temperature should not exceed 180 degrees. Because high temperature will cause certain damage to the hair.
- Sleeping: Braid hair or use a silk scarf to reduce tangling.
- Combing: Use a wide-tooth comb or a special hair extension comb to comb from the ends of the hair to the roots slowly. Be gentle and avoid pulling hard to loosen the wire or damage the hair. If you encounter a serious knot, do not forcefully comb it. You can first apply a small amount of hair care essential oil or leave-in conditioner to the knot and gently untie it.
